Democrat lawmakers keep finding ways to stick their feet in their mouths.
If it’s not Ilhan Omar or AOC or [insert name here] on the national level, it’s a liberal state senator who decided to say something crazy.

The latest example deals with gun confiscation, via Daily Wire:
An Illinois state senator told a constituent who was worried that a state bill would threaten his ownership of firearms that perhaps the state should skip fining him and simply confiscate his guns. State Senator Julie A. Morrison, who was a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 107, which was sponsored by five Democratic senators, spoke with the gun owner at a public meeting.
The gun owner stated, “Senator Morrison, you have a Senate Bill 107 to take away some of my automatic firearms.”
Morrison replied, “To clarify, I’m not really taking your gun away from you; you just can’t buy any new ones.”
The gun owner responded, “You want me to turn them over to the state police unless I pay a fine for each firearm and register them, then I get to keep them. So, if I get to keep it — if I pay a fine and register it — then, how dangerous is it in the first place and why do you need to ban it all? Why do you need to try to ban my semi-automatic firearm?”
Morrison replied, “Well, you just maybe changed my mind. Maybe we won’t have a fine at all, maybe it’ll just be a confiscation and we won’t have to worry about paying the fine.”
Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) said on Monday night that as president she would give Congress 100 days to take action on gun control before she would take executive action.
She noted, “Upon being elected I will give the United States Congress 100 days to get their act together and have the courage to pass reasonable gun safety laws. And if they fail to do it, then I will take executive action. And specifically what I will do is put in place a requirement that for anyone who sells more than five guns a year, they are required to do background checks when they sell those guns. I will require that for any gun dealer that breaks the law the ATF take their license.”
Ben Bernier, a University of New Hampshire student, told Harris that he was nervous about becoming a target of a mass shooting as he studies to become an educator.
Bernier: “I am really bothered that public schools are being targets for mass shootings. Two days ago was the 20th anniversary of the Columbine massacre, but two decades later no major gun control legislation has been passed. As president how will you go about keeping our schools safe and keeping guns out of the hands of those who should not have them?”
Harris responded, “I’m sure there are plenty of students here, while you were in high school, even middle school, that you had to participate in a drill, right, where you were convened and your teachers taught you about how you need to go and run in a closet because there may be a mass shooter roaming the hallways of your school. And in our America that should never have to happen.”
She added, “There are people in Washington, D.C., supposed leaders who have failed to have the courage to reject a false choice, which you’re either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take people’s guns away. Supposed leaders in Washington, D.C. who have failed to have the courage to recognize, you want to go hunting, that’s fine, but we need reasonable gun safety laws in this country, starting with universal background checks and the renewal of the assault weapon ban but they have failed to have the courage to act.”
Why is California Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell running for president? He stands zero chance of winning his party’s nomination.
That’s not stopping him from saying crazy things, though.
During a June 4, 2019, appearance on The View Democrat presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell reiterated his pledge to take AR-15s and similar rifles away from law-abiding citizens.
ABC News quoted Swalwell saying, “Ban and buy back every single assault weapon in America. I’m the only candidate calling for that.”
Swalwell has been making this push for over a year, and it has morphed into the central component of his current campaign. His ban has gone through many revisions along the way, but one thing has stayed constant–commonly-owned semiautomatic rifles will be banned and taken from law-abiding citizens. Those who do not comply will face punishment that falls somewhere between jail time and being nuked.
