Not sure if you got a chance to watch the State of the Union address last night, but if you didn’t, boy did you miss a great show!
And guess how many people tuned in to see that show? 42 million, according to Forbes.
According to a CBS News Poll, 76% percent of those that watched the address gave their approval, versus 24% that disapproved. See for yourself:
This is a huge accomplishment when you consider how many Trump-haters there were calling for a boycott, doing anything they could to try to take him down. If you want to see a list of some of the liberals that tried their best to persuade the masses not to watch, you can read the Fox News article by clicking HERE.
Even Maxine Waters ranted and raved about all the reasons she could make up to keep the ratings down.
This from Real Clear Politics:
The state of the union under him has not been good. And he has been divisive, and I think he’s putting us all in harm’s way. And so he is not worthy of being listened to.
I don’t know why anybody would want to pay attention to anything that he has to say. He lies over and over again, like I said. 6,000 lies have been documented since he’s been there. I just can’t imagine what he’s going to try and say!
But since he is a great liar, he’ll say anything, uh, because he’s capable of saying anything without facts, without research. And so, I’m not looking forward to his State of the Union, and I hope people will turn the television off!
But what did all of their effort get them? A blockbuster? A bonanza? A BLOWOUT?!
Yes, the ratings are now in and it appears as though the POTUS did not only meet their challenge, but he CRUSHED it.
Breaking the tradition of declining viewership that usually afflicts Presidents this deep into their terms, the embattled ex-Celebrity Apprentice host snared an audience of 46.8 million.
Airing on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, PBS, CNN, CNNe, FOX Business, FOX News Channel and MSNBC in the 9 – 10 PM ET slot, the third longest SOTU in history topped Trump’s first official address to Congress in 2018 by over 1 million viewers.
In a number that will also be important to the 45th POTUS, the address before the now Democrats’ dominated House of Representatives, the Senate and invited guests also beat Barack Obama’s second SOTU of January 25, 2011 by over 9%. That speech by the 44th POTUS was shown on the 11 outlets of ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, Centric, CNBC, FOXNC, and MSNBC.
Eat that, Democrats!
Do you know what this means? Do you know how huge this is?
Poor CBS. After all they’ve done to thwart the president, we reported their sad faces when they had to reveal their own poll showing his approval rating. You can see that article HERE.
To try and save face, they actually went on to try and explain that Trump’s approval rating was high because the people in his own party were the only ones really watching it.
See how CBS described it:
As is often the case in addresses to Congress, those who watched were more likely to be from the president’s party – in this case, Republicans. And they described a president they felt was keeping campaign promises and offering an “inspiring” message.
Now the liberals can no longer make this ridiculous claim because Trumps ratings are higher than even Obama’s 2nd State of the Union.
More from Deadline:
With individual rises for all of the Big 4, last night’s SOTU was up overall more than 10% in the early metrics from Trump’s official inaugural address to the House members and the Senate of January 30 last year. It’s a rare feat for any President this deep into his term, the rise also shows that Trump will eclipse not only his own first SOTU and his 2017 address to Congress but also the second SOTU of his predecessor Barack Obama.
