Pelosi Claims One Part Of Trump’s Speech Scared Her; ‘It Was An All-Out Threat’

President Donald Trump delivered a strong State of the Union address on Tuesday night that was overwhelmingly supported by the American people.

In his address, the president called for unity and laid out “the agenda of the American people.”

While asking Congress to choose “greatness,” Trump said “no matter the trials we face, no matter the challenges to come, we must go forward together.”

“An economic miracle is taking place in the United States, and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics, or ridiculous partisan investigations,” Trump said toward the end of his speech.

He added: “If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn’t work that way. We must be united at home to defeat our adversaries abroad.”

This message, which clearly calls for unity and coming together for the better of the country, was viewed by Democrats as being “threatening.”

While speaking to Roll Coll, Pelosi claimed that Trump was threatening Congress.

It was a threat. It was an all-out threat. The president should not bring threats to the floor of the House.

He said he wasn’t going to cooperate unless we didn’t exercise our constitutional responsibility to oversight. It’s not investigations, it’s oversight.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., came running to Pelosi’s defense and said that it was “unfortunate” if Trump was making a threat.

“He seems to threaten everyone though. It’s a pattern for him,” Hoyer added.

It’s certainly mind-boggling to think that Trump calling for unity and speaking against Democrats launching partisan investigations could be viewed as a “threat.”

Beyond that, the president delivered a strong speech on Tuesday night.

Trump’s speech was so powerful that even Democrats stood up and applauded several times, including when the president noted the difference between legal and illegal immigration.

“We have a moral duty to create an immigration system that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens. This includes our obligation to the millions of immigrants living here today who follow the rules and respected our laws. Legal immigrants enrich our nation and strengthen our society in countless ways,” he said. “I want people to come into our country in the largest numbers ever, but they have to come in legally.”

The president also received a roaring applause when he called for both political parties to come together for the greater good of the country.

“We meet tonight at a moment of unlimited potential, as we begin a new Congress, I stand here ready to work with you to achieve historic breakthroughs for all Americans. Millions of our fellow citizens are watching us, gathered in this great chamber, hoping we will govern not as two parties, but as one nation,” Trump said.

“The agenda I will lay out this evening is not a Republican agenda or Democrat agenda, it is the agenda of the American people. Many of us have campaigned on the same core promises, to defend American jobs and demand fair trade for American workers, to rebuild and revitalize our nation’s infrastructure, to reduce the price of health care and prescription drugs, to create an immigration system that is safe, lawful, modern and secure, and to pursue a foreign policy that puts America’s interests first,” he added.

Trump continued, “There is a new opportunity in American politics, if only we have the courage together to seize it. Victory is not winning for our party, victory is winning for our country.”
