Obama Breaks Silence On 2020 Election With Brutal Advice For Joe Biden

Obama Breaks Silence On 2020 Election With Brutal Advice For Joe Biden

Former President Barack Obama has finally chimed in on his former veep’s presidential bid but it isn’t going to be much help to Joe Biden.

Despite a terrible summer and a series of recent gaffes that don’t speak well to his fitness for office, Biden is still the frontrunner but there is a long way to go until the party crowns its champion in Milwaukee next summer.

Lunchbucket Joe has been waiting for Obama to step up and say something positive about him but according to a New York Times story, the nation’s first black president instead chose to dispense some brutal advice to his former second banana.

Former President Barack Obama has finally chimed in on his former veep’s presidential bid but it isn’t going to be much help to Joe Biden.

In his interactions with Mr. Biden — the pair had a quiet lunch in Washington last month — Mr. Obama has hammered away at the need for his campaign to expand his aging inner circle.

He has communicated his frustration that Mr. Biden’s closest advisers are too old and out of touch with the current political climate — urging him to include more younger aides, according to three Democrats with direct knowledge of the discussion.

Being that it is the New York Times, the sources are anonymous but OUCH!

The story also states that Obama discouraged the geriatric human gaffe machine from even getting into the race in the first place.

Via Mediaite, “Obama Reportedly Cautioned Biden on 2020 Run: ‘You Don’t Have to Do This, Joe’”:

President Barack Obama reportedly cautioned Joe Biden on his presidential run just before he declared his candidacy, according to a New York Times report.

“You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Obama told Biden earlier this year, according to a source at the Times.

The two had spoken at least half a dozen times before Biden ultimately decided to run. “Obama took pains to cast his doubts about the campaign in personal terms,” according to the Times article.

In 2016, Obama quietly pressured Biden to sit out the race, partly because he thought Hillary Clinton had a better chance of building on his agenda and partly because he did not think Biden was emotionally equipped to handle the race just after the 2015 death of his son Beau Biden.

Biden believed he could have beat President Donald Trump four years ago, and told Obama he could never forgive himself if he turned down another shot at Trump.

Obama also reportedly summoned Biden’s top advisers to his office earlier this year but instead of an endorsement, he warned them to not allow Sloppy Joe to embarrass himself lest it tarnish his precious legacy.

According to the NYT:

In March, Mr. Obama took the unusual step of summoning Mr. Biden’s top campaign advisers, including the former White House communications director Anita Dunn and Mr. Biden’s longtime spokeswoman, Kate Bedingfield, to his Washington office for a briefing on the campaign’s digital and communications strategy with members of his own staff, including his senior adviser, Eric Schultz.

When they were done, Mr. Obama offered a pointed reminder, according to two people with knowledge of his comments:

Win or lose, they needed to make sure Mr. Biden did not “embarrass himself” or “damage his legacy” during the campaign.

In view of Biden’s horrific summer, Biden’s campaign staff has miserably failed to prevent the 76-year-old from making a fool out of himself and like it or not, the ambitious pack of predatory White House contestants has used old Joe’s senility to reject Obama himself.

The timing and motivations behind the NYT’s Obama-Biden story could lead some to speculate that perhaps his former boss is not only NOT going to endorse Biden but is going to actively work to nudge him out of the race completely before he finishes the job of self-destructing.
