Democrats have completely come undone in recent weeks, and now a top liberal lawmaker wants to withhold the salaries of Trump administration officials for not complying with their demands. As noted by The Hill, House Democrats are threatening the salaries of Interior, Commerce and Justice Department staff if they block ongoing committee investigations.
House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings sent a letter to eight Trump administration officials on Tuesday, calling on them to provide more information for Democratic-led probes.
Cummings’ letter states that Trump officials who do not comply could see their salaries withheld.
“Please be advised that any official at the Department who ‘prohibits or prevents’ or ‘attempts or threatens to prohibit or prevent’ any officer or employee of the Federal Government from speaking with the Committee could have his or her salary withheld pursuant to section 713 of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act,” Cummings wrote in the letters.
Democrats have been ratcheting up crazy, utterly bizarre ideaslately.
During an interview Tuesday night on CNN’s “Cuomo PrimeTime,” Texas Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett said he’s “ready” to throw Attorney General William Barr in jail because he won’t cower to demands from Democrats.
Doggett also mentioned Democrats in Congress “contracting with a jail” and hiring security personnel “to make an arrest.”
Doggett told Cuomo that Congress has the “inherent power of contempt” which he then explained meant the party in control — which is the Democrats in the House — can involve arrests and fines.
“All I want is the attorney general to realize he has a responsibility to the public, and not just as a personal attorney of Mr. Trump, and comply with the law,” Doggett said, and went on to add “I don’t want to throw him in jail, but I’m ready to do so.”
Doggett said the “inherent power of contempt would involve our contracting with a jail, and perhaps adding some security personnel to do an arrest, not because we want to arrest or jail someone, but because we realize we have to show we’re serious about this.”
Earlier this month, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler suggested fining people associated with President Trump $20,000 per day for not honoring his subpoenas.
Nadler says it is “a fundamental bid to take power away from Congress and give it to the president – to make the president much more of a monarch.”
The Democrat went onto talk about fining and even arresting Trump officials who defy him.
“Someone is in contempt of Congress, you send the Sergeant at Arms and you arrest them. Alternatively you fine him $20,000 a day, whatever. We could do this.” Nadler said.
This is how desperate Democrats are to attack Trump.
