Conservative actor and Trump supporter Jon Voight has been under attack for comments he made on Memorial Day weekend about his support for President Trump, saying he is the best President since Abraham Lincoln.
“I know that you’ll agree with me when I say that our president has our utmost respect and our love,” Voight started in his first video posted to Twitter. “This job is not easy for he’s battling the left and their absurd words of destruction. … Our nation has been built on the solid ground from our forefathers and there is a moral code of duty that has been passed on from President Lincoln.”
The Academy Award-winner went on to tell his supporters to “acknowledge the truth” that “our country is stronger, safer, and with more jobs” because the President “has made every move correct.”
Don’t be fooled by the political left because we are the people of this nation that is witnessing triumph,” Voight continued. “So let us stand with our president, let us stand for this truth that President Trump is the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln. God bless America.”
These statements by Voight received harsh backlash from far-Left liberals like Alyssa Milano who told him to “stay in his lane” and accused him of being an “f-lister.”
Another actor Albert Brooks even compared Voight to John Wilkes Booth.
Not every Hollywood liberal took shots at Voight. Actor Robert Davi actually defended Voight, slamming Brooks for comparing the actor to the man that killed Abraham Lincoln.
“To denigrate him and say that Albert Brooks compared Jon Voight to John Wilkes Booth is an atrocity,” Davi Started. “John Wilkes Booth was a traitor who assassinated Abraham Lincoln as we know… I want someone like Norman Lear or someone like that who is respected and revered to speak out against this. The continued beratement of Donald Trump and his supporters or people who have a different ideology of the left eliteness of Hollywood, they live in a different society than a John Doe that’s in Arkansas or the coal mines of Pennsylvania or Ohio. There are differences of opinion. Respect them!”
